General terms that appear often in anatomy

Fossa | A depression or hollow in a bone |
Notch | A depression in a bone which often provides stabilisation to an adjacent articulating bone |
Tubercle | A small, rounded part of a bone |
Process | A projection/outgrowth of tissue from a larger body |
Condyle | A round prominence at the end of a bone - most often part of a joint |
Cutaneous | Relating to the skin |
Brachi | The upper arm |
Cephalic | Relating to the head |
Cleido | Relating to the clavicle |
Cervical | Relating to the cervical vertebrae (neck) |
Omo | Relating to the scapular |
Profundus | Deep (think 'profound') |
Nuchal | Relating to the nape of the neck |
Rami / ramus | A branch or elongated process |
Brevis | Short |
