Term | Definition |

Prefix | Before the root, usually indicates number, location, time or status |
Root | The essential meaning of the word. Cannot stand alone, needs suffix |
Combining Vowel | Single vowel added to the end of a root to make it easier to pronounce. Usually when a suffix begins with a consonant or two roots are joined. |
Combining Form | Combo of root and vowel. |
Suffix | Ending. Usually indicates disease, condition, procedure or disorder. |
