| Analgesia | Pain relief |
| Arrhythmia | Any abnormal pattern of electric activity in the heart |
| Atelectasis | the lack of gas exchange within the alveoli |
| Auscultation | listening to the heart and lung sounds with a stethoscope |
| Bradycardia | abnormally low heart rate |
| Capillary refill time | the time it takes for the capillarys to fill after being displaced by finger pressure |
| Central Catheter | a long catheter left in place for extended periods |
| Closed suction drain | drain that uses vacuum bottles and plastic containers to draw fluid away from a wound |
| D`ebridement | decontaminating the wound from foreign debris |
| Decubital ulcer | Pressure sore that is caused by an animal laying on side to long. |

| Tachycarida | abnormally fast heart rate |
| Tenesmus | straining to defacate |
| Steror | having snoring or gasping |
| stridor | high pitched wheezing caused by a disturbed airway |
| Pulse defict | the absence of palpable pulse waves in a peripheral artery for one or more heart beats |
