| Metacarpal | the portion of the distal forelimb that lies between the Carpus and Phalanges |
| Metacarpolphalangeal | pertaining to the Metacarpus and Phanlanges |
| Metacarpophalangeal | any joint formed by the Metacarpal bone and Phalanx |
| Interphalangeal | pertaining to between the phalanges |
| Interphalangeal | the joints formed by the Phalanges |
| Coxofemoral | pertaining to the Hip and Femur |
| Coxofemoral | the Hip joint |
| Femorotibial | pertaining to the Femur and Tibia |
| Femorotibial | the Stifle joint |
| Tarsal | Tarsus |
| Metatarsal | the portion of the distal hindlimb that lies between the Tarsus and Phalanges |
| Metatarsolphalangeal | pertaining to the Metatarsus and Phalanges |

| Intervertebral | the joints formed between the bones of the spinal column |
| Lumbosacral | pertaining to the Lumbar and Sacrum |
| Lumbosacral | the joint formed by the last Lumbar vertebra and the Sacrum |
| Coccygeal | coccyx; anatomically refers to the tail |
| Epaxial | the region along the dorsal vertebral column |
| Intercostal | the spaces found between ribs |
| Costochondral | the cartilage that connects the bony ribs to the Sternum |
| Sternal | Sternum |
| Epiphysis | the end of a long bone, usually covered with cartilage |
| Metaphysis | the wider portion of the shaft of a long bone that is found at each end and is adjacent to the epiphysis |
| Diaphysis | the shaft of a long bone |
| Periosteum | a specialized CT that covers the outer surfaces of all bones |
| Endosteum | a specialized tissue membrane that covers the interior surfaces of all bones |
| Synovial | a thick, transparent fluid that is found in joints, resembling egg whites |
| Arthritis | inflammation of a joint |
| Myostitis | inflammation of a muscle |
| Orthopedic | the correction of deformities of the musculoskeletal system |
| Flexion | the act of bending |
| Extension | the act of out-stretching |
| Abduction | the joint movement whereby an extremity is moved away from the body |
| Adduction | the joint movement whereby an extremity moves towards the body |
| Circumduction | a combination of flexion, extension, adduction and abduction. |
| Intramuscular | within a muscle |
| Osteoblast | the cell responsible for deposition of Ca for bone formation |
| Osteoclast | the cell responsible for remodeling and resorption of bone |
| Intramedullary | within the marrow |
| Panosteitis | inflammation of all parts of the bone |
| Spondylopathy | a disease of the spine |
| Osteomyelitis | inflammation of the bone and marrow |
| Fossa | depressed area on the surface of a bone |
| Foramen | a hole in a bone |
| Condyle | a large, round articular curface |
| Process | a projection off a bone surface |
| Head | spherical articular surface on the proximal end of a long bone |
| Facet | a flat, articular surface |
| Agonist | a muscle or muscle group that directly produces a desired movement |
| Antagonist | a muscle or muscle group that directly opposes the action of a prime mover |
| Synergist | a muscle that contracts at the same time as a prime mover and assists it in carrying out its action |
| Fixator | muscles that stabilize joints to allow other movements to take place |
| Cancellous bone | Light, spongy bone found at the end of long bones |
| Compact bone | Dense, heavy bone found in the shaft of long bones |
