Isolated from chicken with: Hepatitis. Chronis respiratory disease. Gastroenteritis. ARTHRITIS/TENOSYNOVITIS. Myocarditis. Nephrosis. Malabsorption syndrome. Stunted growth
Hosts: Broiler chickens
Transmission: fecal-oral route. transovarial at a lower rate
Zoonotic? NO so can use for processing if near processing weight
Morbidity vs. Mortality: 100% vs. <2%
Clinical signs: sit on hocks and are reluctant to move and the joints are swollen and tendon may rupture
Control: Vaccinate breeder flocks so progeny chicks have a solid degree of passive immunity
Pus? NO!
