| Transmission? Carrier state? Shedding? | Aerosolized infectious exudates. NONE. Horses can shed virus up to week following recovery |
| Pathogenesis? | Replicates in the epithelial cells of the respiratory tract so lesions like laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, and other URT infections |
| Clinical signs? | Rapid spread, high fever, dry, hacking paroxysmal cough: ABORTION in mares with prolonged fever |
| Recovery? Mortality? | within 7-10 days. Mortality is rare but MORE FREQUENT if there is an intercurrent bacterial infection |
| What are the horses vaccinated with? | bivalent inactivated H7N7 and H3N8 antigens |
