What is a seed? Seeds are containers of new life. A.Seeds are formed in the ovaries of flowers, which become fruit. B.Seeds insure continuing life as well as provide food and other products.
Seeds can be classified as two kinds: A.Monocot B.Dicot
What are monocots? Monocots are plants that have a seed with one seed leaf known as a cotyledon. The embryo in the seed will have one leaf. As the embryo grows, the leaves develop with parallel venation.
What are some examples of monocots? Corn
What are some examples of monocots? Wheat
What are some examples of monocots? Rice
What are dicots? Dicots are plants that have a seed with two cotyledons. The embryo in the seed has two leaves. Leaves of a dicot have net venation.
What are some examples of net venation plants? Tomatoes
What are some examples of net venation plants? Beans
What are the outside (external) parts of bean seed? Seed coat Hilum Micropyle
What are the parts of a monocot seed? Seed coat Seed scar Silk scar
What are some examples of monocots? All grasses
What are the inside (internal) parts of a dicot seed? Cotyledons Radicle Hypocotyl Epicotyl Plumule
What are the internal parts of a monocot seed? Endosperm Radicle Hypocotyl Epicotyl Cotyledon Plumule
