NCEA L1 Physical Education - Biomechanics terms

TermDefinition
Flexon Bending, bending forward.
Extension Straightening, bending backward.
Abduction Movement away from the midline of the body.
Adduction Movement towards or across the midline of the body.
Supination Movement of the forearm so that the palm is facing up.
Pronation Movement of the forearm so that the palm is facing down.
Dorsiflexion Raising of the toes and foot towards the tibia.
Plantarflexion Pointing of the toes.
Angonist The contraction of a muscle.
Antangonist The relaxation of a muscle.
