Euthanasia | Merciful, painless killing of an animal, usually injured or ill |
Cull | Any animal or fowl eliminated from a herd or flock due to poor quality, illness, disease, low production, etc. |
Antiseptic | Clean, preventing the growth of microorganisms that may cause disease |
Congenital | Condition existing at birth BUT NOT hereditary (occurs during prenatal development) |
Laceration | Torn and ragged wound, often caused by tearing |
Biopsy | Removal and examination of tissue(s) for diagnosis |
Cutaneous | Relating to skin |
Spay | Removal of the ovaries and uterus; neutering a female cat |
Prolapse | Slipping of a body part from its usual position (i.e. uterine, vaginal, rectal) |
Gestation | Pregnancy |
Lactation | Period of milk secretion (usually from delivery to weaning) |
Ruminant | Digestive system made up of a 4 chambered stomach allowing an animal to eat roughages |
