Week 7 through 12 vocab

Euthanasia Merciful, painless killing of an animal, usually injured or ill
Cull Any animal or fowl eliminated from a herd or flock due to poor quality, illness, disease, low production, etc.
Antiseptic Clean, preventing the growth of microorganisms that may cause disease
Congenital Condition existing at birth BUT NOT hereditary (occurs during prenatal development)
Laceration Torn and ragged wound, often caused by tearing
Biopsy Removal and examination of tissue(s) for diagnosis
Cutaneous Relating to skin
Spay Removal of the ovaries and uterus; neutering a female cat
Prolapse Slipping of a body part from its usual position (i.e. uterine, vaginal, rectal)
Gestation Pregnancy
Lactation Period of milk secretion (usually from delivery to weaning)
Ruminant Digestive system made up of a 4 chambered stomach allowing an animal to eat roughages
