What is the function of skin? Protection, prevent fluid loss, provide coloration, provide site for vitamin D synthesis
What is skin composed of? Epithelial tissue
What are the layers of the skin? Epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous layer
What are the 2 types of glands? Subaceous and sweat
Sebaceous Gland Secretes sebum through ducts
Sweat Glands Secrete sweat
Hair Dead protein cells filled with keratin
Follicles Sac that holds hair
Arrector Pilli Muscle attached to follicle
What are the 3 parts of a neuron? Cell body, dendrites, axon.
Dendrites Carry impulse to cell body
Axon Carries impulse away from cell body
Glia Glial cells are the supportive cells of nervous system
What does the CNS consists of? Brain and spinal cord
Meninges 3 layer membrane surrounding the CNS
What are the 3 meninge layers? Dura matter, Arachnoid membrane, pia matter.
What are the 3 main parts of the brain? Cerebrum, cerebellum, and brain stem
