| S.O.A.P | Subjective. Objective. Assessment. Plan |
| Proximal | Closer in the center. Proximal & Approximate come from the same word and mean close |
| Distal | Father away from the center. Distal & Distant come from the same word and mean far |
| Lateral | Out to the side |
| Medial | Towards the middle Like the median in a highway |
| Anterior/Ventral | The front The word ventral means "stomach" |
| Posterior/Dorsal | The back a dorsal fin on a shark is on its back |
| Cranial | towards the top "cranium" |
| Caudal | Towards the bottom from Latin, for tail |
| PACU | Post-anasthesia Care Unit |
| ICU | Intensive Care Unit |
| Prone | Lying down on belly |
