abductions   moving away from the midline of body ( lifting your arm)

flexion   means bending or decreasing the angle at the joint ( bending arm at elbow)

extension   straightening or increasing angle at the joint ( straightening arm out straight )

elevation   raising a body part ( when you take a breath your ribs rise )

depression   lowering the body part ( when you breath out your ribs lower )

rotation   turning of the bone on its own axis / pivoting ( turning your head )

circumduction   moving and extremity in a circular moition

supination   turning of your arm so that you palm is facing upward

dorsiflexion   bending your foot upward at the ankle toward your face

plantar flexion   bending foot downward toward the ground at the ankle

retraction   moving a body part backward ( tilting your head backward)

protraction   moving a body part forward ( bending your head forward )

external rotation   turning of a limb about its axis of rotation away from midline of body
