Words you should know for hockey

Right Wing   An offensive player sticking to the right side of the center

Left Wing   An offensive player sticking to the left side of the center

Center   a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the side boards

Defense   a player position whose primary responsibility is to prevent the opposing team from scoring.

Goalie   player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net

Pass   the movement of the puck from one player to another, usually by a motion of the stick

Assist   up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal.

Stick Handle   To maintain individual possession of the puck or ball by controlling it with movements of one's stick, especially to do so in a skillful manner.

Off-sides   a play is offside if a player on the attacking team enters the offensive zone before the puck, unless the puck is sent or carried there by a defending player.
