How many covenants did God make with his people? Seven
Who are the people that God made the seven covenents with? Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus Christ, and the end of time
What are the four parts of the Old Testament? Pentateuch, Historiacl, Wisdom, and Prophetic
How many books are in the Pentateuch and what are their names? 5 books, and they are, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
How many Historical books are there? 18 books
How many Wisdom books are there? 7 books
How many Prophetic books are there? 16 books
How are the Prophetic books broken down? Why? 4 major (Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, and Danial) and 12 minor. The major are longer and the minor are shorter.
Testament covenant
Covenant A sacred bond or promise of love and comitment between two people.
Torah The Hebrew word for law
Mosaic law Over 600 civil, moral, and religious laws found in the last four books of the Pentateuch, the core of which is the 10 Commandments.
Decalogue another name for the 10 Commandments
sapiential The latin word for wisdom
Inspiration The power and action of the Holy Spirit on the human authors of scripture to write only what God wanted writen
Deuterocononical The 7 old testament books included in the catholic bible, but omited from the Protestent bible
Canonical divinly inspired..all Truth without error
Conon A collection of inspired books approved to be read at mass.
Apocrypha Not divinely inspired, not free from error. The Protestent term for the 7 OT books that they omit.
Magisterium The teaching authority of the church made up of the pope and bishops...not prieEcusts
Ecumenical Council A world wide meeting of the pope and all the bishops
Papal Of or concerning the Pope.
Infallibility The power of the Holy Spirit on the magisterium to mever be wrong when teaching faith and morals
faith One of the three theological virtues, freely given at baptism, by which we believe all that God has taught us becauseGod is all Truth.
Salvation History The stroy of our salvation in Jesus Christ, from the beginning of time to the end of the world... past-> Present-> Future
Deposit of Faith All the truths of our faith (in scripture and tradition), protected and defended by Holy Mother Church.
Sacred Tradition The holy word passed down orally from Jesus, through the apostle, to the church today.
Sacred Scripture The Holy word of God, which is writen
Divine Revelation That which God teaches us about himself, contained in sacred scripture and sacred tradition.
Dogmatic Constitution A teaching document writen by a group of bishops for the whole world which adresses an issue in the world or in the church.
