How did the view of the Church change during the Crusades? People began to see the Church as just as corrupt and violent as everyone else.
How did Kings, Knights, and secular rulers gain influence in the Crusades? They formed a "bond" with the common man by fighting along side him during the Crusades.
What is scholasticism? A from of learning that made new information fit the ideas of th Church. Leran from scholars.
What is empiricism? Form of learning that relied on experience and experimentation as its main source of information.
Why was Heliocentric Theory a perfect example of empiricism? Copernicus studied and researched on his own without standard teaching to come to the theory.
"Ends justify the means" is attributed to which philosopher? Niccolo Machiavelli
What does "ends justify the means," mean? Achiveing your goal is most important. How you do it is irrelevant as long as you achieve.
How did art change in the renaissance? Its focus shifted from greusome depictions of hell to a more positive and beautiful view of humans and human bodies.

Who began the Protestant Reformation and when? Martin Luther - 1517
This was the primary disagreement Luther had with the Church. Practice of Indulgences

Luther taught that salvation was gained by Faith alone
This was a "holding station" for souls created by the Church. Purgatory
How did one's soul move from purgatory? Their family would pray and give generously to the Church.
This greatly spread the reformation and increased literacy Gutenberg's Printing Press
How did the reformation change the common man's perception of God? It brought God down and showed all men could have a personal relationship with God, without the "middle man" - the Church.
