Pure Tone Audiometry

Determining Uncomfortable Loudness Levels

Prior to testing ........ should be obtained Consent!!!
Instructions I will gradually make the sound louder in you ear and I want you to raise your hand as soon as the tone becomes uncomfortably loud
Stress that it is not... To test the loudest sound you can tolerate but to test what level you find uncomfortable
The tester should monitor... The subject throughout the test to check for signs of discomfort
Testing should be started at 60dB HL
Tone length and interval 1 second tone followed by a 1 second gap (rhythmical)
Stimulus is increased each time by ...dB 5dB
If the subject flinches before making a formal response ULL can be noted if the subject says that the tone, but not the previous tone was uncomfortable.
