What was the Mau Mau? A secret society of Kenyan farmers/tribesman who tried to frighten white farmers to leave their land in the highland.
Who was Mobutu Sese Seko? Dictator who seized/held power in Zaire for 32 years, lost the country and was overthrown in 1992
What were the Camp David Accords? Who signed them? What were the terms? Peace agreement signed between Israel(begin) and Egypt (sadat) in which egypt agreed to reconize Israel as a legitamate stare in return for Israel returning the Sinai Penninsula to Egypt.
Why did the UN plan for a Palestinian state fail? Palestinians rejected the plan because they felt the entire region belonged to them.
What was the Balfour Declaration and what did it do? Statement issued by Britain in support of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. It essentially adressed Palestines future as a divided state.
What was the outcome of the 1967 Six-Day War? Israel won and seized Jeruselum, Sinai Penninsula, Golan Heights, West Bank creating a buffer zone between itself on Arab Countries.
What was the PLO and what did it do? Conducted an armed struggle against Israel by using campaigns or violence and terrorism.
What was the intifada? Results? A campaign of civil disobedience that put pressure on Israel to liberate Palestine caused by frustration over Israel dominance.
What led to the 1956 Suez Crisis? Egypt seizing control of Suez Canal from Britain and France.
Which similarities existed between the political assassinations of Yitzhak Rabin and Anwar Sadat? Were born assassinated by extremists from their own religion for peace made with their enemies.
How did the republics in Central Asia gain independence? Soviet Union collapsed/broke up
Who were the mujahidden? holy warriors who fought against the Soviet supported government in Afghanistan.
Why did Russia seek possession of Afganistan in the 1800's? They wanted to gain access to the Indian Ocean.
