Who was Jawaharial Nehru? India's first prime minister as an independent country.
How did British officials partition India? They separated India into two different colonies. India and Pakistan. India was mostly Hindus and Pakistan was Muslem.
Why did India and Pakistan both claim Kashmir? Pakistan claimed it because most people were Muslim and India claimed it because the ruler of Kashmir was Hindu.
What policies did Nehru emphasize? Unity, democracy, economic modernization, economic liberalization
What challenges does India face in the 21st century? Poverty- big gap between rich and poor, Population growth, different languages, religions and ethnicity causing religious dispute, relations with Pakistan not good,
In what way did Pakistan also undergo a partition? East Pakistan and West Pakistan were separated by 1000 miles and East Pakistan was unsatisfied with government rule. East Pakistan broke away from Pakistan and becomes independent nation of Bangladesh.
What are the challenges that Pakistan struggles with today? Disputes with India, Muslim millitants
What are the challenges Bangladesh faces today? Poverty, natural disasters
