Era of Global Wars

World War I 1914–18, also known as the Great War, conflict, chiefly in Europe, among most of the great Western powers. It was the largest war the world had yet seen.
Causes of WWI MAIN - Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, Nationalism
Triple Alliance WWI Alliance of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy
Triple Entente WWI Alliance of France, Russia, Great Britain
Russian Revolution Overthrow of the Czarist regime in the October Revolution of 1917.
Bolsheviks Led by Lenin, a centralized, disciplined party of professional revolutionaries. They dedicated themselves to overthrowing the Czar--the emperor of Russia--and to the establishment of a classless society.
White Army / Red Army Supporters of the Czar/Revolutionaries who wanted to overthrow the Czar and install a communist government.
People of the WWI era Vladimir Lenin (Russia), Woodrow Wilson (U.S.), David Lloyd George (Great Britain), Georges Clemenceau (France).
Military innovations in WWI airplane, trench warfare, submarine, machine gun, poison gas, artillery bombardment, two-front war, barbed wire, hand grenades, tanks.
Combatants/non-combatants Someone who takes a direct part in the hostilities of an armed conflict /Civilians who are not taking a direct part in hostilities.
Shell shock Psychological disturbance caused by prolonged exposure to active warfare, esp. being under bombardment.
Versailles Peace Treaty Reparations (Amount Germany must pay to other countries), Guilt-Clause (Germany is solely responsible for WWI), Land Concessions (Germany must give up its colonies, extended empire), Disarmament (Germany must greatly reduce its military).
World War II A war fought from 1939 to 1945, in which Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, the United States, China, and other allies defeated Germany, Italy, and Japan.

Fascist A governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism.
Nazi The National Socialist German Workers' Party, founded in Germany in 1919 and brought to power in 1933 under Adolf Hitler.
People of the WWII era Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman
Genocide The deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.
Atomic Bomb Weapon of mass destruction dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war with Japan and fuel the Cold War with the Soviet Union.
