3. What happened on June 28th, 1914? Who was involved? Ferdinand and wife were shot by Princip. (Serbia)
4. What was Princip’s problem with Ferdinand? What was Princip’s group called? AH was taking Bosnia. Black Hand.
5. Who joins to help Serbia? Who joins to help AH? Why does England join? Russia. Germany. Germany attacks Belgium.
6. What did “Home by Christmas” mean? Thought war would be short.
7. Describe trench warfare and no man’s land. Barbed wire, unsanitary, rats. No man’s land = land between the trenches.
8. Who does Germany fight on its two front war? East = Russia, West = France
9. Who switches sides in WWI? Italy
10. What were the first airplanes in war used for? How did they fight each other in the air? Surveillance. Shoot each other pistols.
11. How did submarines cause the US to join WWI? Sunk Lusitania. Then GER was warned. Then GER started back.
12. How does the Defence of Realm Act show how rights were limited in WWI? ENG made it illegal to criticize GOV.
13. Why do most Western countries give women the right to vote after WWI? Proved themselves by working in factories.
14. Why did the Czar’s wife listen to Rasputin? He healed her son.
15. How was the March Revolution different from Bloody Sunday? March Revolution, troops joined protestors.
16. When Lenin is captured in Germany, what does the army do with him? Why? Send him to RUS to cause trouble there.
17. Who are the Red and White armies in Russia? Who ultimately wins? Red = commie, White = non-commie. Red wins.
18. How are Czar Nicholas II and his family killed? Burned and thrown down a mine shaft.
19. What international peacekeeping organization grew out of WWI? Who proposed it? League of Nations. Wilson.
20. What are three things that came out of the Paris Peace Conference? Who got the short end of the stick? A/H gone, GER pays FR big time, FR gets Rhineland. GER
21. How many people died in WWI? 10 million
