Republic | a government which the people chose representatives to represent the country. |
Patrician | A person of high ranking; a noble (upper class) |
Plebeians | the common people. |
Senate | a council of elders, you had to be at least 60. a body of 300 men. |
Consul | the top officials in the republic. |
Dictator | an absolute ruler (a tyrant) chosen by the senate. |
Legend | a story handed down from earlier times that may not be true. |
Province | a division of a country. |
Assassination | to kill, secretively, or suddenly without trying to be seen. |
Civil War | a war between groups or within a city. |
Emperor | the male sovereign or supreme ruler of an empire. |
Volcano | an opening in the earth. (melted rock) |
Aqueduct | a conduit or artificial channel for conducting water from a distance, usually by means of gravity. |

parable | a teaching of Jesus in story form. |
ex Post Facto Law | no law can be used to punish a person before the law was made. |
romance Language | Latin languages Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian, Portuguese. |
peninsula | a body of land surrounded by three sides of water. |
gladiator | if somebody did something wrong and they make them fight against people, animals or more. |
