Sources of Plastic

There are a number of sources or raw material used in the production of plastics. (polymers) Such as..... Animal and vegetable by-products are used in semi-synthenitic polymers.
Cellulose is a.... Natural material occurring in plant firers it is mixed with acetic acid to produce cellulose acetate from which products such as OHP slides are manufactured.
Casein is another example By-products of milk are used to create the polymer. this material is still used in the manufacture of buttons.
Coal, oil and gas are the sources for a range of purely synthetic plastics they are gained through the process of thermal cracking. synthetic plastics are therefore carbon-based and account for the majority of plastics used today.
Plastics can be grouped into three types these are? Thermoplastics: they can be reheated and remoulded. Thermosets:they can't be reheated and reshaped. Elastomers: they can be distorted under pressure then can return to there original shape when pressure is taken off.
