Ethiopia: 1st of the independent African countries because of its strong leader who modernized it and imported weapons
Iran: Persia, Europeans were interested in Iran when oil was discovered.
Suez Canal- connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea. It’s important because it saved the British over 5,000 miles when traveling to India. Gave faster access to trading areas in the east.
