Communism A system of government in which a single party controls the means of production and wealth is distributed equally
Cultural Revolution A movement aimed at removing opposition to the Communist Party
How does the geography in China effect where most Chinese people live? Most people live near the water
What part of China do most of the Chinese live? They live in the south and east
What is the main contributor to China's successful history? Dynasties (families of rulers). Also, not a lot of influence from invaders.
What were some of the achievements of the dynasties? Silk, a new system of writing, paper, compass, and the Silk Road
How did the teachings of Confucius affect the Chinese government? It became the official philosophy of China and brought the establishment of government departments worked by well-trained individuals
What two groups emerged in the 1900's and fought for control of China? What type of government did they want? Nationalists = democracy Communists = communist government
What led to China being taken by communists? Peasant support
What are the effects of communism in China? Redistribution of land, collective farms (great leap forward), industry under government control, wars, drought, internal conflicts, Cultural Revolution
How does China's government impact economics in China? The government owns all financial institutions, sets prices on goods, and plans production
What is the goal of a Taoist? To become one with Tao and nature
What are the 3 main religions in China? Taoism, Buddhism, Confucianism
How has culture exchange influenced East Asia? Western cultures, methods of government, forms of writing, paints, and ideas
