Name Three Aspects of the Manorial system? 1. The manor included house, land & village 2. Peasants and serfs worked the land and payed taxes to the Lord 3. the lord protected those who worked his land
How did the Feudal system and the Manorial system work together? Worked together because the Nobles owned the land and rented it to peasants to farm which gave them legal possesion and economic control and protection of the peasants.
How was life different for a midieval peasant from that of a Lord or Lady? 1) Peasants were bound to the land and did hard work, poor diet and were poorly educated the nobles lived in catstles but not easy lives they managed their land and spent time in the military.
What impact did the "Code of Chivalry" have on everyday life in medieval times? 1) It improved life among the nobility, improved their manors with those in their own social group it had very little impact on the lower levels of the people
Why did Feudalism develop? It arose in the Absence of a Strong Central Government.
What were Knights? Horseback Warriors
What was the person who granted land called? Lords
What was the person called who recieved land in return for services? Vassels

Could a person be a Lord and Vassal at the same time? Yes, because land could be divided and given. Could have a more powerful Lord above him and yet be a Lord to a less powerful vassal below him.

Was the Church part of the Feudal system? Yes, the church owned lots of land and granted it as Fief to Nobles for military protection

What was the main part of the castle called? A Keep (a strong tower that contained storerooms, barracks and workshops)
