What is the purpose of a worldview? 1) To meet needs. 2) Creates order. 3) Provide people with set beliefs about their world. 4) Allow people to make predictions about what life would be like.
What is the definition of a society? A society is the way groups of people have organized themselves live together; they share things in common such as values and identity.
What is the definition of institution? An institution is an organization or establishment dedicated to a particular cause or program, especially those of public, educational, or charitable purposes.
What is the definition of role? a function assumed or part played by a person, or thing, in a particular situation.
What was the environment like in Mesopotamia where the Sumerians settled? Between two rivers, flat land, mountains near, hot climate, and very little rain.
What was the environment like where the Ancient Egyptians settled? Northern Africa, near Nile River, South: cataracts, West: Western Desert and Libyan Desert, East: Arabian Desert, and North: Red Sea and Mediterranean Desert.
Why did Pharaohs have so much power? Pharaohs had so much power because they were believed to be descendants of the gods.
Nine Steps of the Mummification Process 1) Wash the body. 2) Remove organs. 3) Remove the brain. 4) Apply Nitron (salt). 5) Fill body with sawdust. 6) Wrap body in linen. 7) Rest body in sarcophagus. 8) Complete "Opening of the Mouth" Ceremony. 9) Rest in pyramid.
Why did Egypt collapse? Egypt collapsed due to war between the princes. The pharaoh could not control them, so the country was vulnerable which, ultimately, led to the invasion of Alexander the Great. The Romans later defeated the Egyptians.
What is the Egyptian hierarchy pyramid like? Pharaoh, Viziers and High Priests, Royal Overseers, District Government, Scribes, Artisans, Farmers/Labourers
What is the definition of autocracy? Autocracy is when one man has unlimited control over a society (autocrat).
What are common materials found in archaeological digs? Grave goods, teeth, bones, buildings, tools, hieroglyphics, and fossils.
What is the archaeological process? Objective is determined, Area is surveyed, Excavation takes place, and Information is published.
What is the definition of a plebeian? A plebeian is a commoner, ordinary citizens.
What is the definition of a patrician? A patrician is a part of the wealthy class.
Why did Rome fall? Rome fell because the barbarians, who came from the west, conquered the west side of the Roman Empire. The east side still belonged to the Romans but they couldn't handle the taxes, there were military problems, etc. Soon after the Roman Empire collapsed.
What is the definition of Rule of Law? No one, not even a leader, is above the law. Everyone must follow the law.
