What was Imperialism driven by? The need of industrialized countries to acquire natural resources and markets for their manufactured goods.
What caused Japan an isolated society to a major industrial power in the 20th century? Japan was under the Meiji rule, and Western Imperialism helped them rise.
What gave Japan a sense of Nationalism? Their strong military power.
What did Japan's taking of Korea exemplify? This exemplified Japan's Imperialism.
What is the difference between Japan and China's reactions to the Western behaviors? Japan modernized and adopted Western ways, while China believed in building on its historic strengths.
What was Great Britain's influence in China called, when the government of China was weak, and Great Britain controlled directly controlled all aspects of the African colonies’ economies and governments? This influence was called the "Sphere of Influence".
Who was the man that worked to help bring about a revolution that toppled the Qing dynasty and resulted in the Republic of China? Sun Yat-sen.
In 1900, what country controlled the most territory? Great Britain controlled more territory than any other imperial nation. France and Germany had colonies in Africa. The United States, Japan and Russia had fewer territories.
