Besides stating the rights of nobles and church leaders, what other things did the Magna Carta say? The Magna Carta also said that the punishment of a freeman or merchant could not take away his means of making a leaving, and women could request arrests only if their husbands were murdered.
What are the principles of the English Common Law? The law is applied equally, juries are used to make decisions, and laws are based on rulings by judges in previous cases (precedent).
What document restricted the powers of the king, guaranteed certain rights and liberties to the people, and established England as a constitutional monarchy? The English Bill of Rights.
In "The Spirit of Laws", what idea did Baron de Montesquieu promote? That power should be divided between three branches of government.
