QuestionAnswer
Adolescent- An individual 12 to 18 years old.
Immunity- The resistance of the body to the effects of a harmful agent agent, such such as pathogenic microorganism and its toxins.
Immunization-(active, artificial) The process of becoming immune or of rendering an individual immune through the use of vaccine or toxoid.
Infant- A child from birth to 12 months of age.
Length (recumbent)- The measurement from the vertex of the head to the heel of the foot
Pediatrician- A physician who specializes in the care and development of children and the diagnosis and treatment of children's diseases.
Pediatrics- The branch of medicine that deals with the care and development of children and the diagnosis and treatment of children's diseases.
Preschool Child- A child 3 to 6 years old.
School-Age Child- A child 6 to 12 years old.
Toddler- A child 1 to 3 years old.
Toxoid- A toxin a poisonous substance produced by a bacterium that has been treated by heat or chemicals to destroy harmful properties. Administered to prevent infectious disease.
Vaccine- A suspension of attenuated (weakened) or killed microorganisms administered to an individual to prevent an infectious disease by stimulating the production of antibodies in the individual.
Vertex- The top of the head.
