Doctrine The basis or foundation of a dogma. Synonymous w/theology.
Theology Study of the facts/truths about God, presented in a logical and orderly format. Synonymous w/doctrine.
Religion The combination of beliefs, practices, customs, and institutions through which the followers of Christ express their faith and worship God.
Dogma The expression of the cardinal (essential) points of doctrine. Synonym for creed.
Creed The expression of dogma which contains the principal articles of faith.
4 Branches of Theological Study Biblical; Historical; Systematic; Practical
Biblical Theology Study of truths found in the Bible.
Historical Theology Study of church history and the development of doctrinal interpretation throughout history
Systemic Theology Organizes by topics, the truths of faith.
Practical Theology Areas of ministry such as Homiletics, counseling, and Christian education.
