presbyopia a decrease in the elaticity of the lens that occurs with aging resulting in a decreased ability to focus on close objects
refraction the deflection or bending of light rays by the lens
tympanic membrane a thin semitransparent membrane between the external ear canal and the middle ear that recieve and transmits sound waves also known as the ear drum
