Test 3- Physiology

Neurophysiology-PNS-Autonomic Motor

QuestionAnswer
What only has one motor neuron from the CNS to Effector tissue, skeletal muscle and is always excitatory? Somatic Pathway - Acetylcholine
What system has two motor neurons from CNS to effector tissue (pre and Postganglionic neurons, and effects smooth muscle, cardiac muscle and glands? ANS - excitatory or inhibitory
one of the only things both the sympathetic and parasympathetic stimulate is? Salivary Glands
What are the few cases where Postganglionic sympathetic neurons are cholinergic (ach)? Sweat glands and Blood vessels supplying skeletal Muscles
Muscarinic cholinergic receptors are most commonly at the target cell and Nicotinic cholinergic receptors are where? Found at postganglionic neuron receptor of Sympathetic and Para. B/c the respond to ACh which is release in Para and Sympathetic preganglionic neurons.
if a receptor binds to a neurotransmitter Nor or Epinephrine called what kind of receptor is this? Adrenergic Receptor. Cholinergic (Nicotinic or Muscarinic) receptors bind with ACh
Which receptor is channel linked or ligand gated and where are they found? Nicotinic //dendrites of all Postganglionic neurons, adrenal medulla, neuromuscular junctions of skeletal muscle
Which receptor is G-protein coupled (2nd messenger systems) and where are they found? Muscarinic //parasympathetic effector tissues (cardiac muscle, smooth muscle and glands)
What type of adrenergic Receptors increase diversity of response? All G-Protein Linked.
Alpha 1 adrenergic Receptors do what to smooth muscle? Vaso constriction
Beta 1 do what to heart? Increase heart rate and myocardial contractility
Beta 2 adrenergic receptors do what? Bronchiolar relax smooth muscle, vascular smooth muscle of skeletal muscle blood vessels (bronchio and vasodilation)
Cardiovascular, respiratory, micturition, defecation and sexual reflexes are all controlled by the spinal cord of higher brain regulation? Spinal cord and brainstem

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
