What was the importance of nationalism? made countries feel important by having colonies in other parts of the world

what were allainces? an allaince is A union or association formed for mutual benefit, esp. between countries or organizations
what is nationalism? when people have pride and loyalty for their country
what is imperialism? imperialism is when a country tries to build up an empire
what is militariasm? when a country builds up armed forces and getting ready for war
what did reparations do in the treaty of versailles? germany had to pay huge reparations which make up for a wrong, usually by payment of money, goods , and services by the defeated power.
what was the world wide depression? it was when th U.S.'s stockmarkets crashed and it put the U.S into the great depression but countries that traded goods with the U.S. couldnt get the goods they needed so they went into a depression too.
Who were the allied powers? mostly led by the British and Russian Empires, France, Italy, and Japan
what happened to franz ferdinand and how did his death lead to a war between austria and sarajevo? franz ferdinand was assasinated and the people of austria - hungary blamed one of sarajevo's people so they declared war on them
What was the purpose of the Treaty of Versailles? To punish Germany and force them to accept full responsibility for the war.
who were the Axis powers? they were japan italy and germany
what did hitler lead and were was he from? he led the nazi troops and he was from germany
how did reparations play a part in World War II? In the Treaty of Vers., Germany agreed to pay for the damage caused by the war.
what was the holocaust the holocaust was when hitler blamed the jews for the crash in the government and he tried to get rid of all of them
what did gorbachev do? he lead the communist party in the soviet union
what did yeltsin do? he lead the communist party in moscow
Totalitarian Regimes is a political system where the state has total authority and regulates every aspect of public and private life.Several totalitarian regimes arose after the end of WWI. These included of Germany, Italy, Spain, and Japan, and Stalin's rule in Russia.
what was east germany and what was west germany? east germany was communist and west germany was democratic
democracy in the USSR: gorbachev introduced democractic ideas to the USSR, including elections and parliament
realtionship between the USSR and the US ussr did not like the us and that is why the cold war started
how was nato involved in the cold war? the nato countries signed the north atlantic treaty to protect themselves from russia
