Chapter 2 Vocab for the Cultural Landscape

| Agricultural Density | The ratio of farmers to total amount of land suitable for farming. |
| Agricultural Revolution | The time when humans first domesticated plants and animals and stopped relying on hunting and gathering. |

| Crude birth rate | The total number of live births in a year for every 1000 people alive in society |
| Crude death rate | The total number of deaths in a year for every 1000 people alive in the society |
| Demographic Transition | The process of change in a society's population from high CBRs and CDRs and low NIR to low CDRs and CBRs and a higher total population |

| Dependency Ratio | The number of people under the age of 15 and over the age of 64 compared to the number of people active in the labor force. |

| Sex ratio | `The number of males to number of females in a population |
| Total Fertility Rate (TFR) | The average number of children a woman will have in her child bearing years (15 - 49) |
| Zero Population growth (ZPG) | A decline of TFR to the point where the NIR equals zero |
