Scale of analysis and Regional analysis
| Term | Definition |

| Scales of analysis | looking at various scales: local, regional, national, global |
| Global | Relating to, or involving the entire world: Comprehensive |
| Regional | Relating to or characterisitic of a region |
| National | Relating to a nation or country |
| Local | Relating to or occurring in a particular area, city, or town, located or living nearby |
| Region | area distinguished by a unique combination of trends or features |
| Formal/Uniform region | area which everyone shares in common one or more distinctive characteristics |
| Functional/Nodal region | Organized around a node or focal point |
| Perceptual/Vernacular region | A region that exists as an idea |
| Infrastructure | Basic physical and organization structures need for the operation of a society. Example buildings, roads, power supply |
| Globalization | Actions or process that involve the entire world and result in making something worldwide in scope |
| Transnational corporation | Company that conducts research, operates, factories, sells products in many countries. (Nike, Apple, Starbucks) |
