The student will be able to discuss exploration in Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

QuestionAnswer
Portugal First country to explore the coast of Africa. (Home of Vasco da Gama and Prince Henry's school).
Spain European country connected to Portugal. Home of Magellan.
Christopher Columbus Italian explorer that sailed for Spain. He sailed the ocean blue in 1492 and "discovered" America.
Vasco da Gama Portuguese explorer that sailed around the Cape of Good Hope and landed in India.
Ferdinand Magellan Spanish explorer that tried to finish what Columbus started. He died in the Phillippines, but his crew survived.
Prince Henry the Navigator Developed a school in Portugal for navigators and sailors in 1420.
Global exploration Exploring unknown regions of the world.
Oceania Territory (small islands) above the continent of Australia.
Conquistadors Spanish conquerers (examples includes Cortez and Pizarro).
Circumnavigate A term meaning to "circle the globe".
Africa Continent with goods such as ivory, gold, and salt. The same continent the Portuguese first explored.
England Country of explorers such as John Cabot.
Glory, Gold, God 3 Gs. The reason explorers travelled to distant lands.
Currents and Wind Two elements that carried ships and made travel difficult.
