The student will be able to discuss exploration in Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

| Spain | European country connected to Portugal. Home of Magellan. |
| Christopher Columbus | Italian explorer that sailed for Spain. He sailed the ocean blue in 1492 and "discovered" America. |
| Vasco da Gama | Portuguese explorer that sailed around the Cape of Good Hope and landed in India. |
| Ferdinand Magellan | Spanish explorer that tried to finish what Columbus started. He died in the Phillippines, but his crew survived. |
| Prince Henry the Navigator | Developed a school in Portugal for navigators and sailors in 1420. |
| Global exploration | Exploring unknown regions of the world. |
| Oceania | Territory (small islands) above the continent of Australia. |
| Conquistadors | Spanish conquerers (examples includes Cortez and Pizarro). |
| Circumnavigate | A term meaning to "circle the globe". |
| Africa | Continent with goods such as ivory, gold, and salt. The same continent the Portuguese first explored. |
| England | Country of explorers such as John Cabot. |
| Glory, Gold, God | 3 Gs. The reason explorers travelled to distant lands. |
| Currents and Wind | Two elements that carried ships and made travel difficult. |
