Complexity The state or quality of being intricate or complex.
Ice Age A cold period marked by episodes of extensive glaciation alternating with episodes of relative warmth. The most recent glacial period occurred during the Pleistocene Epoch.
Goldilocks Principle Something must fall within certain margins, as opposed to reaching extremes.
Gaia She is the Greek Goddess representing the earth. The Greek version of Mother Nature.
Agrarian Revolution The transformation of British agriculture during the 18th century, characterized by the enclosure of common land and the introduction of technological innovations such as the seed drill and the rotation of crops.
Entropy The lack of order or predictability. A gradual decline into disorder.
Emergence The process of coming into being. Also becoming important or prominent.
Integration The intermixing of people or groups who were previously segregated.
Paradox A statement or proposition that, despite sound reasoning from acceptable premises, leads to a conclusion that seems senseless, logically unacceptable, or self-contradictory.
Theory A system of ideas intended to explain something.
Evolution The process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the Earth.
Regime A mode or system of rule or government. A certain planned way or system of doing things.
