Phases of inflammation

Initial 24-48 hrs. after initiation Vasodilation, edema, some leukocytes attracted to area, inflammatory chemicals released
Migratory Days 2-5 Start to see capillary budding into dammaged tissue, epithelialization of skin, chemotaxis, inflammatory barrior established, debridment or abscess formation
Proliferative Days 5-21 Fibroblasts form scar tissue where normal tissue has been destroyed, cells grow in random directions and adhere to all adjacent tissues
Remodeling Over 21 days Scar tissue reshaped and remodeled according to stresses on tissue, cell pattern is unidirectional, scar tissue cells are broken down and reabsorbed
