complexity Definition: The state of being a whole made by a multitude of complicated and interrelated parts. Human Significance: Required to create a structured society based off of multiple ideas and backgrounds.
Ice Age Definition: A series of glacial episodes during the Pleistocene Period. Human Significance: A period where surviving was difficult; people formed tight communities. Changed the earth's topography which altered humanity's values and social boarders.
Goldilocks Principle Definition: States that something must fall between certain values without reaching extremes. Human Significance: Temperatures, weather, etc, cannot be too extreme. The regions where the aforementioned is "just right" is where humans live.
Gaia Definition: The Greek personification of the Earth in the form of a Titan. Human Significance: A preliminary "god" during the beginning stages of religion, which emphasizes the significance and power of the Earth.
agrarian revolution Definition: A change in farming methods which allowed for a greater production of food. Human Significance: Promotes the growth of the human population making food more readily available for a wider range of people.
entropy Definition: Lack of order or predictability, gradual decline in order. Human Significance: In the presence of disorder, the human race is unable to remain productive as a civilization.
emergence Definition: The process of coming into being, or of becoming important or prominent. Human Significance: The movement of power in ideas and/or beliefs which shape the opinions of humanity.
integration Definition: The intermixing of people or groups previously segregated. Human Significance: The circumstances in which people and ideas mix between different countries and cities.
paradox Definition: A statement or proposition that seems self-contradictory or absurd, but in reality expresses a possible truth. Human Significance: With its consideration, literary structure and scientific endeavors began to reconsider what was believed.
theory Definition: A coherent group of general propositions used as principles or explanation for a class of phenomena. Human Significance: They help us better understand the occurrences around us and use that understanding to better ourselves.
evolution Definition: Any process of formation or growth; development. Human Significance: What allow us to advance and better our lives. If humans were not able to evolve, we would still be living in caves and using rocks for tools.
regime Definition: A method or system of rule or government. Human Significance: Keeps society organized. Without it, the entire world would be in chaos.
