Define the term "complexity". The state or quality of being intricate or complicated; A factor involved in a complicated process or situation.
What is an "Ice Age"? A time of widespread glaciation; The series of glacial episodes during the Pleistocene period.
What is the "Goldilocks Principle"? It states that something must fall within certain margins, as opposed to reaching extremes.
Define the term "Gaia". the hypothesis that the living and nonliving components of earth function as a single system in such a way that the living component regulates and maintains conditions so as to be suitable for life; this system is regarded as a single organism
What was the agrarian revolution? A change in farming methods that allowed for a greater production of food. Revolution was fueled by use of new farming technology and improved fertilizers. The result of this revolution was a population explosion due to the higher availability of food.
What is the definition of "entropy"? Thermodynamic quantity representing unavailability of a system's thermal energy for conversion into mechanical work; degree of disorder/randomness in a system; degradation of matter and energy in universe to an ultimate state of inert uniformity
Define the term "emergence". The process of coming into being, or of becoming important or prominent; The process of coming into view or becoming exposed after being concealed.
What is the definition of "integration"? The action or process of integrating; The intermixing of people or groups previously segregated.
Define the term "paradox". Statement/proposition that, despite sound reasoning from acceptable premises, leads to a conclusion that seems senseless, logically unacceptable,/self-contradictory;a statement that is seemingly contradictory/opposed to common sense & yet is perhaps true
What is a theory? A supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, esp. one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained; A set of principles on which the practice of an activity is based.
What is evolution? A process of continuous change from a lower, simpler, or worse to a higher, more complex, or better state; a process of gradual and relatively peaceful social, political, and economic advance.
Define the term "regime". A system or planned way of doing things, esp. one imposed from above; a regular pattern of occurrence or action; mode of rule or management
