Scientific Revolution A period of time in the 16th and 17th centuries in which people changed how they thought about the world and the universe.
rationalism a belief in reason and logic as the primary paths to knowledge
geocentric theory a theory that Earth is the center of the solar system or the universe.
gravity the force of attraction between all masses in the universe
scientific method a step-by-step method of investigation involving observation and theory to test a hypothesis
hypothesis an idea to be tested in an experiment
telescope a tool that can see faraway objects (like planets).
science an organized study of the world and how it works.
astronomy the study of outer space and everything in it
deism The belief that God created the universe according to mathematical laws then allowed the universe to run itself by these laws.
