How was the Malaria problem solved? In 1904, the Panama Canal Company hired a doctor and a large crew to cover all water vessels, fill in swampy areas, and burned sulfur in every house to kill mosquitoes. (Pg. 100 - 101)

What is an "exile"? An exile is a person who leaves his or her homeland for another country because of political problems. (Pg. 110)
Where did many Cuban exiles settle if they left in the 1950's? Miami, Florida. (Pg. 109)
What crop did Cubans grow in the 1960's that made them lots of money? Sugar cane. (Pg. 108)
