Homo Habilis, define. 2nd early man. First tool maker. Used lava rocks and fire.
Homo Erectus, define 3rd early man, first to use technologuy. Mastered fire and cooked food.
Neanderthal, define. 4th early man. Burial rituals for dead, may have been religous.
Homo Flores, define. 5th early man, first boat maker
Homo Sapien, define. Modern man, first to create art.
What were the accomplishments of Sumer? First civilization, developed cuneiform, invented the wheel, sail, and plow.
What were the scientific advancements of Egypt? Developed geometry, the calendar, and hieroglyphics
What did the Nile provide for Egypt? Water, silt, transportation
What rivers were important to Sumer? Euphrates and Tigris
What river was important to Egypt? The Nile
What rivers were important to the Indus river civilization? The Indus and the Ghanges
What religion was founded in Persia, and who was it founded by? Zoroasterism, founded by Zoroaster
What was the myth about the founding of Rome? Twin sons(Rinulus and Remus) of Mars sent adrift on the Tiber River until basket is caught of fig tree. She-wolf nurtures twins until shepard takes them in. The twins create Rome where they were found.
Why did Rome create a republic? They were previously ruled by cruel dictators
Describe the 1st and 3rd Punic War 1st was won by Rome using boarding bridges. 3rd, revenge war for Rome.
Describe the 2nd Punic War Carthage led by Hannibal, Rome led by Scipio. Hannibal destroys the countryside of Italy, but Rome wins. Carthage forbidden to raise an army.
Describe the decline of Rome Shortage of silver, weakend by barbarians from the north, soliders no longer paid, no loyalty. Eventually Germanic heathans sack rome, soon foolowed by Atilla the Hun.
