| Dark Ages | The period in European history from about a.d. 476 to about 1000. |
| Pope | The bishop of Rome as head of the Roman Catholic Church. |
| Vikings | Any of the Scandinavian pirates who plundered the coasts of europe from the 8th to 10th centuries. |
| Charlemagne | a.d. 742–814, king of the Franks 768–814; as Charles I, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire 800–814. |
| Fiet | Land, and everything on it, which to a lord gave to a vassal |
| Knight | A man, usually of noble birth, who after an apprenticeship as page and squire was raised to honorable military rank and bound to chivalrous conduct. |
| Lord | A perdson who has authority, control, or power over others; a master, chief, or ruler. |
| Page | A youth in attendance on a person of rank or, in medieval times, a youth being trained for knighthood. |
| Peasant | A member of a class of low social status that depends on either cottage industry or agricultural labour as a means of subsistence |
| Vassal | A person who recieved land from a king or noble and gave loyalty in return. |
| Manor | The part of a fiet that peasants farm for the lord |
| Serf | a peasant who was bound to the land and whose life was controlled by the lord of the manor |
| Bishop | a priest who is in charge of other priest and the number of churches |
| Parliament | the english council of law making assembly |
