U.S. Foreign Policy at the turn of the Century

China 1 To obtain more influence in China in 1899, the US promoted the open door policy- urging european nations to respect chinese rights and fair trade competition in China.
China 2 Chinese angered by lack of respect for chinese culture.
China 3 1900 Boxers ( Chinese nationalist movement) rebelled against foreign interference killing foreigners/destroying buildings.
China 4 Imperialist powers quashed the boxer rebellion.
China 5 China continued to provide new markets/ raw materials for the U.S. and foreign industry.
