Why did the industrial revolution begin in Britain (be able to give 3 reasons) 1. Enclosure movement 2. Britain's natural resources 3. New British inventions
Why did factories develop? Machines became too large and expensive for home use.
How did railroads inpact the ecomony and society? Railroads created new jobs and many poeple wanted to travel on trains because it was faster
Why did Urbanism take place? They had more jobs available that were well paying
Describe working conditions during the 1800's. All members of the family worked, up to 16 hours a day, 6 days a week, factories were hot and dirty, death and injury were common.
How did the Industrial revolution change the lives of women? Women were able to vote, for the 1st time they were able to work outside the home.
What types of medical advances were made during this period? Vaccines were created, anesthesia helped with surgery and in 1860 Gregor Mendel discovered genetics.
How did political change in Britain differ from political change in other parts of Europe? In Britain there was lots of war. In Europe they changed peacefully
How did Italy become a country? In 1861 the Kingdoms of Italy wre established. In 1870 war brought the final areas of Italy into the Italian Kingdom
How did Bismarck unite Germany? Nationalism was strong and Bismarck had support from Prussia. He was then appointed Prime Minister by William I.
