What is the first thing that you do before administering CPR? check patient for responsiveness with a pinch and shout
What is the most effective first aid for an actively bleeding neck laceration? Apply direct pressure to the wound.
Which is applied to a recent first degree burn? cold water
A gymnast comes in with an acute painful, swollen, and inflamed ankle. What first aid is best? Apply ice or very cold wet compress to inhibit inflammation
A jogger displays signs of excessive sweating, pale skin tone, unsteadiness, and disorientation. What do you suspect? heat exhaustion
What would you do for an unconscious poisoned victim? Call EMS, keep them breathing, artificial respiration if breathing has stopped.
What is the First Aid for second degree burns? apply clean cloths, wrung out in ice water
A runner at a marathon presents with high fever, nausea, lack of sweat and a red face. What do these signs most likely indicate? heat stroke
What should a therapist do if a client has epileptic convulsions on the massage table? Push away nearby objects
Why should burns be covered with a clean or sterile dressing? to prevent infection
