| Squanto | Helped Pilgrims at Plymouth. Taught them farming,fishing, hunting. Arranged a peace treaty with local chief, Massasoit, which lasted for 50 years. |
| Charles I | King of England who raised taxes during hard economic times. Head of the Church of England and began punishing Puritans because they were dissenters. Gave Puritans a charter to start Massachusetts Bay Colony. |
