Jacobo Arbenz Takes over Guat 1950. Begins land reform. Starts and arms deal with the chezslovakia. Us CIA intervenes in guatemala with proxy army. Arbenz steps down and US democracy is put in, destabilizing.
Manuel Zelaya- Honduran Politician, Hugo Chavez fallower, socialist ideals. Wins 2006 election- raises min wage to $10 a day. Joins ALBA (chavez). Military and supreme court get fed up and ship him out of the country in 2008- military coup till 2009 election
Francois Duvalier “Papa Doc” Haitian dictator from 1957 to 1971. Was originally backed by the US, pretented to be voodoo priest, executed iver 30,000 haitians. Dies in 1971, Son takes over and is overthrown in 1986 with 26% literacy rate and 20% of kids die b4 age 5
