What is considred to be the least effective means of preventing breath odor? chewing gum
What is considred the most important precaution in controlling the spread of microorganisms? Hand washing
What is recommended for cleaning up spills of body fluids? 10% bleach solution
Which does not apply to standard precautions? Blood, sweat, mucous membranes, skin that is not intact. sweat
What is considered low-level sanitation? hot soapy water or surgical soap
What is a common aseptic technique for preventing the spread of pathogens? Disinfection, Isolation & Sterilization
When is it necessary for a massage therapist to wear gloves? When contacting body fluids, when there is the likelihood that microorganisms are presnt on the therapist's hands
What describe control of pathogens by sterilization? Use of pressurized steam bath, extreme temperature, or irradiation
What describes opportunisitic invasion of a pathogen? Disease that does not develop until the pathogen has the opportunity.
What is the purpose of draping? To preserve the clients' modesty
If a client is uncomfortable with undressing, what do you do? Work through the clothes.
If you drop a pillow case on the floor, what should you do? Put it in the laundry basket.
